Yet there's much good out there about "skepticism," from the atheist Richard Dawkins or from former President Bill Clinton, who told NPR's "This Week" that "all faith is an ideology [and] there are some that are more devout than I am" about God.

But the idea that "anyone may claim to believe," Smith said, "is merely an affirmation of his [Jesus] doctrine … rather than his faith or belief in God."
